Inspirational reflections on this and that.

GIDDY WITH GRATITUDE!

Recently, a new friend said to me at a party, “You come with a reputation. Everyone knows you and the reviews are all 5-star!” I felt so warm inside you’d have thought my heart was on fire. Isn’t it funny how two sentences can lift your spirits? It’s nice to imagine I might have that reputation but even nicer that she shared it with me. Her compliment filled me with immense gratitude.

So, I came straight home and wrote down what else I’m grateful for:

—My kids still come home for visits.

—My kids are out of the house.

—When I got hit with a pickleball recently, it hit my right ribs instead of the left ones I cracked last year.

—I can still carry a tune and it’s not too heavy.

—My friends encourage me to be a better person.

—My car will be paid off in 5 months.

—My boss hasn’t fired me.

—I woke up this morning!

—I only peed once last night.

—The boy in the Starbucks drive-thru called me ‘a babe.’

—The boy in the drive-thru is gay.

—The boy in the drive-thru treats me like a real person.

—The milk I bought without looking at the expiration date wasn’t expired.

—I met my deductible.

—I met my new neighbor.

—I haven’t met my Maker yet.

—My youngest taught me how to post a story on Instagram.

—My oldest fixed my wind chimes.

—I’m old enough now that no one cares if I sing or dance spontaneously.

—If they do care, I’m grateful I don’t realize it.

—I grew up with no cell phone or computer and entertained myself catching bugs, watching ants and observing people.

—I learned things the old fashioned way: going to the library and looking them up in the card catalog—OR— trying them out for myself.

—I can still find goodness in a jackass.

—I can still sink a few pool balls here and there.

—I can still do a handstand and the splits.

—My skin is wrinkled but at least I’m still in it!

—The sunflowers pictured above are growing even though I DID NOT PLANT THEM!

When I see my new friend, Susan, today, I’m gonna greet her with a big hug! As Booker T. Washington said, “If you want to lift yourself up, lift someone else up.”

P. S. I’m grateful for all my readers and welcome new ones from Denmark, China & Poland!Subscribed
